Caller's Motives for Wassatiyyah in Approach and Aim / Ruqaia Nasrllah Neyaz
This research is intended to motivate those inVol.ved in the call to Allah to adopt wassatiyyah (moderation, in approach and
aim. Wassatiyyah is greatly beneficial for the caller and the called. The caller has to be personally satisfied with its benefits, and the called
have to be convinced of such benefits in their daily life and in the Hereafter. The research consists of two sections: one deals with the
motives of the caller to adopt a moderate approach in promoting Islam; and the other deals with the caller’s motives to persuade the called to
embrace wassatiyyah as a lifestyle. The research affirms that wassatiyyah is a built-in quality and mechanism of Islam, as evidenced by
statements from the Qur’an and the Sunnah. Wassatiyyah is deeply rooted in the call to Islam. The research also shows the effectiveness of
wassatiyyah on the caller, the called and the larger host community in this world and the Hereafter. The research recommends that due
attention be given to wassatiyyah in thought and practice at the callers’ level as well as the community level, with special consideration to
disagreement etiquette. Towards this end, related courses can be introduced at the final stages of general education. Also, seminars and
courses can be held to introduce wassatiyyah to students preparing for studies abroad
