Spiritism: Definition, EVol.ution, Ways and Criticism/ Said Ibn-Ahmad Ibn-Ali Al-Afandy

This research deals with the issue of séance, which has spread amongst educated people as well as uneducated ones in our
Arab and Islamic societies. The issue belongs to the realm of the unseen. Such an alien issue represents significant aberration from our
religious and ethical norms, ideals and behaviour. Related aberrations include sorcery, hypnotism and alleged knowledge of the future. They
contradict our fundamental Islamic beliefs. Therefore, it becomes imperative for Islamic investigation to scrutinize the broader issue of
spiritism in order to indentify its fallacies and inconsistencies with reality as well as its negative impact on our Arab and Islamic societies.
